Approved, Presenting & Funding

IT IS OFFICIAL! We are home study approved and have been cleared to move forward with the adoption process. This was a long and draining process, however, we just had to keep reminding ourselves why we are doing it and the adventure we committed to taking. Now that we are approved here are how things have changed from the other updates:

  • The cases we have been able to see for information purposes become real and we can decide if we want to “present” to the birth family or not based on the information that has been provided to us about the situation.

  • When we “present” we are telling the agency to show our profile book to the birth mom and sometimes dad. The profile book is about 16-20 pages about us, how we met, what we do for a living, where we live, the community that supports us, etc. This is all the family had to go by when they are looking for someone to place their child with.

  • As we see the cases we can see the financial schedule of that particular case and many require about $20,000 the moment you match with the birth family. The remainder of the money is due at various points of the adoption process.

  • On the schedule the agencies or attorneys send out about the adoption cost that does not include the travel expenses when we go and meet the birth family should they choose before birth, going to be in the hometown when the baby is born, and staying with a possible NICU stay and waiting for the state to clear us to leave with the child. So we have to factor in extra in the budget to cover those items as well.

As promised in the last post we have a few different avenues in which one can help us raise funds to bring home “Baby Boggess” :

  • We bought a wooden puzzle and are selling pieces to it as a way to have something to share with our future child on the tribe that was behind us to bring them home. You have two different options with this:

    • $35 - we pick a state for you and place your name on the back

    • $45 - you pick the state you want from the list of available states and we place your name on it

  • End-of-the-year tax donations are coming up so we partnered with AdoptTogether. AdoptTogeher is a project of Hoping Hearts Foundation, an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) organization. Any donations that are made through this platform can be written off on your taxes. AdoptTogether Link

  • Directly on the website, you can do a financial donation to “Baby Boggess” and the money will go into an account we opened specifically for this.

  • Leslie is a travel agent and she has decided that any trips booked between now and when “Baby Boggess” comes home will go toward the adoption. We all know people who enjoy traveling and she can assist you with it all. Even if she helps you book a hotel room for one night you are donating to this cause. Leslie can help book trips anywhere in the United States as well as the world. Reach out to her at leslie@mickeysdreamvacations.com to help you or send her a message on her business page. • Leslie is also a rep with Zyia Active which is an athletic clothing company whose mission is to, “ Inspire And Uplift By Making Activity A Fun And Essential Part Of Life.” Over the next few months she will be hosting pop-up parties and all proceeds will go to the adoption. Want to earn free gear yourself? Host a party and enjoy the hostess gifts and rewards that come with it all while supporting “Baby Boggess.” You can also shop here on the Zyia link.

As of now, these are the only fundraisers we are doing, but over time depending on how we process we may add more. We appreciate everyone's love and support during this unknown time. We promise to keep everything updated with how things are going.
